BASKETBALL HOOP

Basketball was not born together with the sport created by Professor James Naismith, but was only perfected later. At first, in fact, basketball shared the ball with football, but the new sport required a ball with different characteristics, from materials more suitable for rebounding to a larger size. It was 1894 when Naismith himself turned to Spalding, a company founded a few years earlier by Albert Spalding and specialized in the production of balls for various sports.
The first result was a rudimentary leather ball made up of 8 different parts sewn together, but over the years Spalding continued to review and improve the basketball and using materials such as rough leather, rubber or other synthetic materials and with different dimensions depending on of the competition categories.
