Beer has very ancient origins, linked to history and Eurasian religion and culture. In fact, beer seems to have been born 5000 years ago in Mesopotamia, the cradle of civilisation, where its inhabitants, including the Sumerians and Assyrians, produced a fermented drink based on cereals, with a particularly intense flavour, which can be considered a forerunner of modern beers. It seems that in Mesopotamia there were more than 20 types of beer, different both in terms of diffusion and intensity of flavor. Beer also had a religious and ritual significance in Mesopotamia. It was drunk during funerals and offered to the deities to ensure a peaceful rest for the deceased. Another tradition is that the goddess of life Ishtar, an important deity of the Assyrian-Babylonian religion, drew her power from beer.
