It all began when a container with flour and water was left near the fire for a long time, and it was noticed that the ingredients tended to harden and create a homogeneous dough. Evidence of the presence of a bread-making activity can already be found in ancient Egypt, where the baker's profession was depicted in many wall paintings, and in Greece where the cult of Demeter, divinity of wheat and agriculture, was venerated.
