COFFEE CUP

The word cup derives from the Arabic "tassah", a sort of ancient glass used to serve drinks which found its diffusion in Europe at the time of the Crusades. The cup as we know it today, however, seems to have its roots in 18th century England. In fact, the British Josiah Wedgwood (founder of creamware, an English version of majolica) invented the coffee cup.

The name tazzina, however, is due to the Italian painter Luigi Tazzini. He was responsible for the modern design of the coffee cup and the definitive addition of the handle (we are between the 19th and 20th centuries). It is essential that the coffee does not cool down too quickly and that its taste and appearance are enhanced.
