GLASS OF WINE

Historian Greg Jenner establishes the first form of the chalice glass in 1400, similar to that of religious functions produced in Venice, Italy, a master of glass manufacturing in Europe. Here this industry proliferated for centuries, so much so that it was moved to Murano not only to limit the risk of fires, but also to keep an eye on a class of artisans with a unique know-how in the world.
In 1600 the English also opened the first glassworks and contributed to making glass even more resistant. This happened almost by chance, when the Royal Navy forced glassmakers to find an alternative to the wood used in the furnaces because this was used to build ships. We opted for marine carbon which, burning at very high temperatures, allowed the homogeneous redistribution of resistance across the entire surface of the glass, reducing its fragility.
