GOLDEN WATTLE

The place of origin of the plant is Tasmania, Australia, and it was introduced into Europe starting from the early 1800s. The Italian name most likely comes from the Spanish root mimar, that is, to caress, a term which is linked to the sensitivity of female world. The mimosa is actually an acacia (from the Greek a-cacha, meaning without negativity - whiteness); it is not a white acacia (acacia dealbata), but yellow. The true meaning of the name is therefore a fascinating oxymoron very similar to the female personality: non-white whiteness.
