Marshall amplifiers are certainly among the best known and iconic in the world of music. The history of Marshall amps began in the 1960s in London. At the time, Jim Marshall was running a music shop in Hanwell and realized there was a growing demand for guitar amplifiers capable of producing loud, distorted sound. The first Marshall amplifier, the JTM45, was released in 1962. It was a 45 watt amp, based on the Fender Bassman model. However, Marshall added a number of changes to the design to make it more suitable for the distorted sound he was capable of producing. Among the changes we find a more powerful output transformer and the use of EL34 tubes, instead of the 6L6.
