ORCHID

The beginning of the recorded history of orchids dates back to Theophrastus, a student of Aristotle, who mentioned them in his "Inquiry into Plants" around 300 BC. Dioscorides, a noted 1st century Greek botanist, officially identified them as "orchids" in his influential treatise "De Materia Medica". In Asia, even the great philosopher Confucius appreciated their beauty, keeping orchids in his rooms and dedicating a poem to them, thus emphasizing their unique fragrance.
