PACCHERI

History tells us that this particular but now well-known type of pasta was considered the "pasta of the poor". In fact, its format is very large and just a few were enough to fill the plate. The name "paccheri" recalls the "pacca". What is it specifically? The memory of a friendly slap to greet or congratulate someone.
The term derives from the Greek, "pas" meaning all and "keir" meaning hand, therefore literally "the whole hand", "full hand". “This is why in Naples paccheri are also called “schiaffoni””. And then, have you ever noticed the noise they make when you throw them on the plate? It really sounds like the sound of lots of slaps! Given openly, without hostile intentions, as a game.
