PENGUIN

Penguins belong to the order of the Sphenisciformes, which includes a single family (Spheniscidae) with 6 genera and 17 species spread exclusively in the Southern Hemisphere, especially in the southern part of the oceans. Not being animals completely free from the terrestrial environment, penguins frequent the coastal strip of South America, South Africa, Australia and Antarctica. Penguins are the birds best adapted to underwater fishing. Their wings have transformed into fins while the feathers have become a sort of thick, shaved fur, and a thick layer of skin fat protects them from the cold.
