The teapot was born in Europe in the seventeenth century, with the spread of the drink, obtained by infusion from the leaves of the tea plant. The first examples are found in large cities on the coast, such as London and Amsterdam, where ships arriving from India landed, loaded with goods. The first European examples of teapots were made with cheap materials (earthenware, tin, brass) and the drink initially spread among sailors. Around 1660 the infusion of tea leaves began to be appreciated even by the rich bourgeoisie; then tea became a very fashionable drink, especially in France and England.
