TOASTER

The toaster was invented by Charles Strite in 1919, after he noticed that burnt toast was being served in his Minneapolis company cafeteria. This event motivated him to look for a solution to improve the quality of toast. Until then, bread was toasted over a fire for a long time, often resulting in it being burnt. Before Strite's invention, devices similar to the toaster already existed. In 1893, Alan MacMasters patented a nickel toaster in Scotland, which toasted bread more evenly than toasting it by hand.
