TRICYCLE

In the history of the bicycle, the tricycle has origins that date back to the first velocipedes. One of the prototypes is due to the French mechanic Henry Gourdoux, who in August 1821 patented a three-wheeled "celerifero", a precursor of the tricycles which spread without much success at the end of the nineteenth century. These vehicles were mainly designed and created for purely female use; the aim was to guarantee maximum balance, thus facilitating the pedaling of the noble ladies still wrapped in large and long dresses.
