One day in February 1895, William Morgan, a physical education instructor at a college in Holyoke, Massachusetts (USA), presented to some colleagues a new game he had invented, which mixed elements of tennis, handball and baseball: a I play with two teams, a net, a ball that should never fall, an infinite number of touches and the division of the match into sets, just like in tennis. The field measured 16.30×10.62 metres, the net was two meters high, the ball was made from the inside of a basketball, and there was no precise number of players.
