YELLOW PEPPER

The pepper is a fresh vegetable that originally developed in countries with a very hot climate, and more precisely in the South American regions: in fact, it seems that its cultivation began in the regions of Brazil and Jamaica.
This type of vegetable was not known in other countries until, in 1493, Christopher Columbus made his second voyage to the Americas and discovered the plant by chance, probably on a Caribbean island; Columbus subsequently imported it to Spain: the pepper is therefore not a widely spread fruit and vegetable product since ancient times, but only began to be present on European tables from the 16th century.
